The journey of a lifetime

A ONCE IN A LIFETIME

EXPERIENCE

As a British & Irish Lions player and now Chair of the Lions, it is a pleasure to write to you as a fellow fan.

We are in the process of creating history because in 2027 the first ever Lions Women’s Tour will take place in New Zealand, a groundbreaking moment in sport.

The Tour represents the next chapter for the Lions in a remarkable history that has crossed generations and inspired millions of fans.

The 2025 Tour to Australia was a remarkable success and to see that famous Sea of Red sweep across the country was magnificent.’

I can tell you that when the Lions run out for those inaugural matches for the first time the atmosphere will be like nothing we have seen before. There is nothing quite like the Lions in sport and the joy it brings is unique.

On behalf of everyone at the Lions, it would be fantastic to see you in New Zealand.

Destination

New Zealand

Stunning, diverse, unforgettable.

New Zealand

Distance may be a factor when planning a trip to New Zealand, but few destinations reward the journey quite like this twin-island nation in the Pacific. Rugby is central to its identity, with iconic venues such as Wellington’s “Cake Tin”, Auckland’s Eden Park and Christchurch’s Te Kaha helping to shape the atmosphere in its major cities. Beyond the sport, the country offers standout scenery from Lake Taupo and Aoraki/Mount Cook to Fiordland’s fjords, alongside well-known wine regions across both islands.

Coastal, relaxed, inviting.

Whangarei

While many travellers head south from Auckland towards the South Island, there is plenty to be found by staying on the North Island and heading 100 miles north to Whangārei, the northernmost city and capital of the Northland Region. Smaller in scale, with just over 50,000 residents, it sits on a sheltered harbour, carries strong Māori heritage, and remains closely connected to the sea and its history. Rugby also plays an important role here, with matches held at Okara Park, while the town’s restaurants and its position as a gateway to Cape Reinga make it a practical base for exploring further north.

Vibrant, adventurous, breathtaking.

Auckland

It is almost unavoidable to visit Auckland when travelling to New Zealand, with most international flights arriving in the country’s largest city on the North Island. Home to 1.5 million people, it is a key centre for rugby, with Eden Park widely regarded as one of the sport’s most challenging venues and open for behind-the-scenes tours. Beyond rugby, the city offers museums, galleries and coastal views, alongside a strong food and drink scene at Victoria Harbour and easy access to Waiheke Island’s vineyards.

Green, vibrant, evolving.

Hamilton

Hamilton sits just 75 miles south of Auckland and, as the capital of the Waikato region, is a growing city of just under 200,000 people with a strong mix of culture, gardens, shopping and regular food and music events. Rugby also features, with Waikato Stadium hosting major fixtures, including matches during the 2011 World Cup. Beyond the city, nearby waterfalls, forest parks and the Hobbiton film set add to its appeal as both a destination and a base for exploring the wider region.

Rotorua

Creative, vibrant, cultural.

Wellington

You know you have reached the southern edge of the North Island when you arrive in Wellington, the capital sitting above the Cook Strait with views towards the South Island. Compact and easy to explore on foot, it combines key sights such as Te Papa Tongarewa, Lambton Quay and the harbourfront within a short distance of each other. For wider views, Mount Victoria or the Kelburn cable car route offer an elevated perspective over the city and coastline.

Day Trip to Adelaide

Wednesday 30 July - Departs 9:30 AM / Returns 17:00 PM

The Barossa is in South Australia, about 70km north-east of Adelaide, the state’s capital city.   Your trip will include a visit of the city centre, The State Library of South Australia and lunch at a local wine bar and kitchen.

The State Library is the information heart of South Australia, located in the North Terrace Cultural Precinct.  You will have the opportunity to explore all three buildings: the award-winning contemporary Catherine Helen Spence Wing with its iconic glass foyer, the Mortlock Wing with its 19th century Victorian splendour, and the 1861 heritage listed Institute Building.

Sweeping stadium views, stylish bar and lounge, premium menu and extensive wine list.  Bespoke Wine Bar & Kitchen is one of Adelaide’s most impressive dining experiences.

Extending across level three of Oval Hotel and into the iconic Adelaide Oval, Bespoke’s unique setting makes a stunning backdrop lunch.

Executive Chef Daniel Simpson’s modern Australian menu brings bold flavours to life through fresh, seasonal produce.  Two drinks are included, and you may choose from house wine, beer or a soft drink.

After lunch you will be transferred to the North Terrace, Adelaide city where you can choose to spend your time either at Rundle Mall, The Art Gallery of South Australia or South Australian Museum.

PLEASE NOTE:  We have been advised that the carpet is being replaced in the Mortlock Chamber (section of the library) and we are now unable to conduct tours through this section during July so we will amend the Private tour of the State Library slightly and now include access to the basement (old & rare artifacts storage) which is an area of the library usually inaccessible to the public.

Private 60 minute tour of State Library of South Australia | 30 July 2025 – 11:00am

Guests will have the opportunity to explore one of South Australia’s great institutions and take a look behind the shelves. An expert librarian will take you on a walk sharing stories of how the State Library began. Your experience starts at the historic Adelaide Circulating Library to learn the history of the building. By 1861, the collection of books held there was to became the first public library in South Australia. The Adelaide Circulating Library has been used in the past as a backdrop to several movies including Shine and Gallipoli. Continue your way to the basement to see some of the interesting old & rare artifacts housed in the library. Discover how the state’s most important treasures are maintained in the state-of-the-art storage and how the preservations team cares for the collection.
